If you got module loaded, you can quicktest if the driver works:
Run (as root):
Code:
cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp
That should generate some random noise out from your soundcard.

If there comes no error message, you can try to alter mixer settings at the same time. (I don't know about the control centre, but you could try running some of the commands (aumix, gmix, xmix, kmix, setmixer). If some of them is working (that is, the mixer program in question is installed), then use it to adjust volume and mute/unmute flag.

When you are finished with random noise, hit ctrl-c in the terminal you ran the cat command to terminate the noise.

this is getting really messed up
heres what going on
in system settings: soundcard detection
well i have 2 sound cards hooked up now
one is SB 16PCI
and the other is SB Audigy
now i will be in the tab for SB 16 PSI ( which linux thinks is: Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI)
and ill have the "Primary audio device" set to the other (SB Audigy)
and my speacers will be hooked into the SB 16 PSI
and it will work when u click "Play test sound"
But if u swich SB 16 PSI to "Primary audio device" it wont work
and it the same all around when u do it the other way around

as soon is i set it as "Primary audio device" it stops working

it a realy mess
any ideas
