In order to get the best Linux software out there, I turned to the Linux version of my trusted old friend, Maximum PC magazine; To put it as nicely as I can, "Maximum Linux" blows. I know there's not as much Linux software out there as there is Win32 software, but I don't think the people putting the CD together were even trying.

Can anybody reccommend a good no-frills video player that supports .mov? All of my music videos are in .mov. I'd prefer something that's just the bare minimum, since it's harder than hell to install anything under the version of Corel Linux I'm running (So far every program I've tried to install except for nedit has thrown up some arcane error when I ran configure)...read: Not RealPlayer. Something with no web integration.

I'd also like any other reccommendations for good software; Multimedia players, file archivers, text editors, whatever, just so long as it's available online.
