Slackwareno kernel-source in installation cdrom

There was no k directory in the iso i downloaded and burned. So I decided to download the kernel manually. There were so many different types of kernel sources. I downloaded this one:
kernel-source-2.4.20-noarch-5.tgz
whats the difference between this one and others for example:
kernel-source-2.4.20-noarch-3.tgz? And will it work for the kernel I have on cdrom? I need to know this beforehand because I cant compile my modem drivers without the correct kernel-source. Also, how do I get my soundcard working in slack? My card is inbuild Crystal Media Labs CM8738. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

the -5 means its the fifth version of that package, -3 means its the 3rd.

You got the latest version.
