shutdown problems on dell 1520 gutsy


hi recently i observed that my computer does not recover from sleep if its for more than 20 mins.also sometime shutting down gets stuck and i have to forcibly power down the system..what might b the problem and solution

Hi,

Check the 'hibernate' mode. It should be somewhere in the panel.

I think the pc is going to hibernate mode. If the pc goes into hibernate mode then a hard reboot is the only option. That is the new power saving mode these days. can cause some inconvience though.

Also check your power (ACPI) settings.

u mean the power management settings right.where in them??

shutting down

hi i run gutsy on my system .sometimes when i shut it down it does not do so.it gets stuck in the process and does not respond to any keys.i have to shut the power down.is there a way to tackle it???
