setting rules in iptables through ssh

hi,

I am using ssh to connect to remote machine.Everytime when i want to set up rules in the iptables, it doesn't work.

Recently i need to connect to the vncserver and changed the iptable rule for opening the port 5901.

I found this rule added to the iptables (iptables --list), but still unable to connect.

This is not the first time i am experiencing this and everytime i had to go to the physical location and get the rule affected by entring through GUI.

Any help regarding this.

Thanks in advance,
biju.

I guess I don't understand what the problem is. I would create a firewall script on the remote machine, and if the script needs changing from time to time, then SSH to the remote machine, edit the script, and rerun it to get your new firewall settings.
