check your selinux and firewall for http_port which in the case of squid is 3128

I am not so good with selinux so I use it in disabled mode. So check your selinux config file

Are you sure the http_port 8080 that you want to use for filtering is not used by any other service i.e. no other service is listening on that port? And that you have a valid entry in your squid.conf file?

Code:
http_port 192.168.1.1:8080

did you checked what you were asked to do in above posts?

check selinux and post your squid.conf
did anyone meshed up with the iptables rule?

Until and unless you tell us about the complete scenario we can't help. So you can save both of ours time by giving complete info.

Check for the errors in the squid error logs in /var/log/squid/error.out or something similarly named file. And let us know what you can see in the error logs. Check if your squid cache is corrupt and try to rebuild the cache using squid -z command.

It could be selinux problem. Does your /var/log/messages file shows any selinux error?

If you changed the default 3128 port to something else then try this:

Code:
# semanage port -a -t http_cache_port_t -p tcp <port_no.>
Replace port_no. with your actual port set in your squid configuration file and restart the squid service.
