I cant figure out how to set my domain/host name in sendmail. my email is sending out as root@host.domain.com (I know I probably shouldnt use root, but its where i did my configuration) I would like the email to say something like xxxxxx@domain.com. Thanks!
This depends on the client you are using. Are you using a particular command line mail app? And you really shouldn't be logging in as root, it's insecure. If you want root email to go to another account or user, just create an alias in /etc/mail/aliases or the like..
Ok, I created another account, but I cant seem to change any permissions to edit certain files. This may turn out just fine. I'm using MUTT as a client and its working well so far. Do I specify the "From" address in this config file?
With the aliases, if I created an alias that was "username@mydomain.com" would it look like the email was coming from that address? Thanks.
