I'm trying to set up a simple local email service on a small office client-server network. Can I use sendmail without setting up a separate DNS server. If I need a DNS server can I set it up on the same computer as my sendmail MTA? Can it be a private DNS server?
Is your mail server going to be online or is it for your internal purpose? If its online you got to have a MX record pointing to your mail server for your domain. Else you can just have internal DNS running. But you still need MX record. It can surely be on same machine.
