Screen blacking out

Just installed Mandrake 9.2 on my secondary pc, and am having a bit of a problem .. I turned off the screensaver, but after about 30 mins or so, the monitor just goes black and the power button on the monitor, little green light blinks on and off .. I tried moving the mouse or hitting a key and nothing brings it back, and pushing the power button on the monitor does nothing but turn it off/bring it back to blinking state ... so Im forced to reboot ... any ideas?

Edit: Maybe my monitor has a sleeping disorder?

I have a button of the front of a computer which makes the computer and monitor sleep. It sometimes does funny things, including what you describe.

Is there a command setterm which can send the monitor to sleep?

Incidentally, couldn't the problem involve the BIOS??

I've had a few people with NVidia's whos machine
wouldn't wake up after a power-saving in X ... turning
of DPMS in /etc/X11/XF86Config worked. In the ServerFlags
section just set
Option "NoPM" "true"
and see what happens...

Cheers,
Tink

Sorry, had a typo...

/etc/X11/XF86Config

Search for ServerFlags
(which is a section name)
and a line with the option mentioned above.

Cheers,
Tink
