Scala Installation

Can we install Scala in Ubuntu 18.04 and RedHat 6.5 without root privileges for a user (as sudo apt-get install scala requires root privileges)?

No scala .deb or .rpm package from the Ubuntu / RHEL repo´s can be installed as unprivileged user.

Binaries are are available for use in any location (/home/user/): scala-2.12.8.tgz
