samba server newbie help

Hello Guys
I am in process of installing a linux machine ( Mandrake 10.1) to join a network with 70 Computers ... since we have a main server where we store all our work, i installed a samba server, and made it connect to the main server ( after 3 hours work ) ... i am able to access the folders on the main server, but unable to see its content ... the folders are totally empty ... from the main server I checked wether i am connected to the server, using command netview and the answer is Yes.. can anyone help me ?

Have you checked that you are connecting with the proper username and password?
It looks as there is no right to read the contents for that user you have connected. Check the share's permission on the Win side.

Try to mount a share manually (after checking the share list with smbclient -L -U username //server) to see if there was any error and list the client side access rights.
