Samba mount Windows shared drive password

I have installed the Samba package on a RedHat Enterprise v4 machine and am now attempting to mount a Windows shared drive. I am logged in as root, I created a /mnt/scratch folder, and need to point to a location in Windows
I invoked the following command:
/sbin/mount.cifs //IPWindowsaddress/scratch /mnt/scratch
I was then asked for a password, this is where I'm stuck. I tried the root password, the Windows domain administrator password, to no avail. Do you know which password may be required?

Unless you configure samba to authenticate against another server (e.g. a domian pdc) then you need to supply a username and password for someone who has an account on the machine your connecting to.

Thanks for the information. How would I configure samba to authenticate against windows servers in our domain? I'm not familiar with domian pdc. Also, I'm only asked for a Password, but not a Username after executing the /sbin/mount.cifs commmand.

You have to set the following in /etc/samba/smb.conf:

Code:
security = server
See the manpage for more info:
Code:
man smb.conf
By default IIRC, unless you supply a username it tries to mount as the guest user, which also IIRC is usually disabled on most Windows boxes.
