Samba log in

Hi I am running samba on a slackware server and 3 xp boxes along with 2 Ubuntu boxes. I can get onto the network with the xp boxes as it logs onto the samba shares on the slackware server using a user name/password. I have not been able to log the Ubuntu box on as it does not recognise the username and password when entered. Any suggestions.

Post the [General] section of your smb.conf file and the section for your share on the Ubuntu machine.

Also post the permissions of the directory being shared: eg: ls -ld /srv/samba/share

If you use "Security = User", and use the smbpasswd file, then make sure to add users using the "smbpasswd" program. Another thing to check is that the firewall on either machine isn't blocking access and that the smb daemon is running.
