Running Mandriva 2006


Hey i just installed Mandriva 2006 and when i load it a black screen shows up showing all my drivers and saying they are OK and after that another black screen comes up with loging in ool or somethiung like that so i type my username and password and it says this

now i dont know what to do here or anything. i typed in help and a bunch of terms came up but it didnt really help me with my problem. i installed everything right and i partitioned everything right also



i cant even enter in the OS, can anyone help me please? thanks.

It sounds like you're up and running. Try typing 'startx' without the quotes and see what happens.

Enter you username and password then enter "startx". Did you install a login manager such as gdm or kdm?

Concur with reddazz. Guessing but it look like during the install you either didn't select a graphical interface or for some reason it isn't starting what you may have installed by default.

For sake of truth. This prompt indicates the OS is up and running and you have "entered" successfully.

I did install KDE and GNOME, i know i installed everything well

the same problem happened to me when i installed Mandriva 2005

now when i boot linux, this shows up

Kernal panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init=option to kernel

Do you use lilo or grub ? it says that it can't find the kernel ! you'll have to reinstall lilo or change parameters in grub. Check out documents available in the internet.
