Running a Home Server

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good tutorials or threads that give good detailed instructions on how to setup a web server or game server..?

Also, which OS is best for this type of request?

Thanks everyone

If you search LQ and Google, you'll find a LOT about what you need.
The best rated distro's for server are Slsckware and Debian.

GNU/Linux would be a good OS... so would xBSD UNIX...

if you mean "which linux distro" then the answer would be whichever you feel most comfortable with... check out some distros at distrowatch.com and then download and try a few... by asking "which distro" here you will never get a real answer, as it's just a matter of opinion... you'll get plenty of "go with slackware" and "go with debian" and "go with fedora" or "try mandriva" etc, etc, etc...
