rsyslog problem on rhel5

hey guys,

im encountering this error upon issuing /etc/init.d/rsyslog start

/etc/init.d/rsyslog: line 33: chk_stat: command not found
/etc/init.d/rsyslog: line 33: chk_stat: command not found
/etc/init.d/rsyslog: line 54: evaluate_retval: command not found
/etc/init.d/rsyslog: line 33: chk_stat: command not found
/etc/init.d/rsyslog: line 48: evaluate_retval: command not found

am i missing something here? I've installed the package using rpm on rhel5.0 and im trying to create a syslog server for remote logging.

any ideas?

Thanks

Where did you get the package from? I'm not entirely sure but I don't think RHEL-5 comes with Rsyslog by default? In any case you're missing some functions (similar to SysV init scripts source from /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions) or a source file.
