RPM

Hello,
I'm a beginner in using Fedora core9 and I installed it on me PC. I can not watch video and listen to music. Do I have to installed any decoder?

Also, I just want you to confirm if RPM is included in the Fedora installer version9.

await response

Why 9...

The latest version of fedora is 12. Why are you starting your linux experience with 9? You might have an easier time of it with the latest version. Versions of fedora are only supported for a limited time.

RPM is the system of managing the software packages that is used by fedora and RedHat(RHEL), as well as other linux distributions.

If you can, you need to install the fedora 9 repositories to download media players and their codecs in order to play restricted media.

Being new to linux
1)
First Fedora 9 is no longer supported and dead
2)
fedora has ONLY 13 months of support , VERY,VERY short time
3) Fedora's target user IS NOT THE NEW USER !!!! , but the VERY experienced user and the "tinkerer " NOT THE FIRST TIME USER
fedora is a TESTING distro and not everything will work correctly , nor will everything keep working. updates to fedora DO AND WILL break things .

I would have you install Ubuntu
Ubuntu is aimed at the " new / first time" user
