/root dir was deleted, How to recover?

I deleted the /root dir use the command rm -fr, of course, I was not intend to do so. Can anyone help? I want to make my linux server work well as before.

(My linux distribution is Redhat Enterprise 4 -ES)

As far as I am aware the root directory is just the home directory for the root user, or at least it is for my distribution.

If it hold the same functionality as my distro then you can just recreate it with the following permissions.

root:root rwx--x---

Yes, my /root dir is also just the home dir for user root, it contains no important data. Thank God.

I created a new home for root following your instruction, it works. Thanks.
