RH9 support flash IDE harddisk?

I have installed a 32M flash IDE on the IDE1 slot. (The first harddisk and CDrom is on IDE0).

Under windows98, this flash IDE is autodetected and I could use it freely.

When RH9 boot up, it shows the message that this flash disk has been detected as hdc. However, when I invoke the command fdisk /dev/hdc, it tells me "no driver for hdc". Does anybody knows or have used flash IDE under linux? Can you give me some hints?

Many thanks.

OK, now I disconnect the CDrom from IDE0 and attach the 32M flash to the IDE0 slot, with "slave" mode. This time when linux boot, it recognize it as "hdb" and I could do anything on it.

But why I can not use this as IDE1 master, and the strange thing is under windows I can
