[SOLVED] Resizing window content when resizing window? (Debian squeeze)

Hi All,

I use debian squeeze with gnome and metacity. Currently when resizing a window the content size is fixed so reducing the window size means a cropped view of the content.

Is there a way to set metacity such that resizing a window will also resize its content, for example, when watching a movie or editing a text file (again, not just cropping).

Are you saying that the application inside the window does not redisplay its contents on a resize (for example, a web browser)?

You actually sound like you want the contents to change their scale. Since the contents of the window are the responsibility of the application, only the application can do this (resizing the window just redraws the border and requests the application to redraw the contents). Some media players (eg vlc) will do exactly this, but there is no generic way to apply it to all applications.
