Resizing partition.

Hi,
I use Suse linux 10.0 and I have a couple of questions:
1) I want to resize my Linux partition. I tryed it through yast but it says the partition needs to be unmounted. I also tryied using the "rescue system" option from the installation and running parted but it said it can't handle reiserfs or something like that. How can I resize the partition???

2) I can't use my Ntfs partition through linux unless I'm logged as root. Why?
Here's my fstab entry for the ntfs partition:
/dev/hda1 /windows/C ntfs ro 0 0

Thanks!

1) sudo unmount /your/partition
2) sudo mount /windows/C
or, in fstab :
/dev/hda1 /windows/C ntfs ro 0 2
(last 0 becomes 2, meaning your partition will be mounted at every boot)

1)
diego@linux:~> sudo umount /
umount: /: device is busy
oh, and i tryed resizing the partition through partition magic on windows but it shows the entire linux HD as "BAD".

2) My windows partition is always mounted at boot. But the thing is that when I try to access its content, through konqueror for instance, it says it's locked. Only when I use konqueror with root permissions I can access its content.

Hi

I suggest using a Live CD like Knoppix that has Qparted on it,this way your partition stays unmounted and you can resize it using the Qparted application.

What are the permissions on the /windows/C partition?,do the following

# chmod 777 /windows/C

this should make it readable by everyone

Cheers

great idea, I've already started downloading knoppix!

It didn't work. It still appears as a "Locked Folder" on konqueror...
