Replacing ffmpeg program with avconv ?

In programme:- Get_iPlayer It said that I should replace ffmpeg with avconv - How do I do this?

I have notice that Adblock Plus not always block add's

Is there anything that can be done about this?

It appears that avconv is a fork of ffmpeg:

Perhaps, it is a matter of which fork your distro has chosen to go with?
