Repartitioning / Resizing partitions: partition magic in linux: possible?
Hey, I guess this is the right forum for this question.
I have been looking around for a way to repartition my hard drive WITHOUT losing my data and reinstallin Gentoo. I have Gentoo working perfectly and I don't want to have to set it up again.
Basically I'm looking for a program like partition magic in linux. Has anyone tried WINEing this (assuming I can find it).
I heard someone say that you can't resize/add extra partitions to your hard drive without reinstalling.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
The reason for this is because i've found a couple of my favourite old games and i want to run them in win98. My flatmate suggested using VMware, and running Windows from WITHIN linux. THis is expensive (or illegal, depending).
Hey, I would get it, but I don't play games very much.
Although, you could clear one thing up. Does a game have to be *supported* by WineX in order for it to work? Or does WineX just run any game you tell it to?
I downloaded and ran a live CD with qtparted on it. When I open qtparted it recognised my Reiserfs hard drive but doesn't give me the option to resize or create my partitions. Only options to format and delete.
Is this because I'm using Reiserfs? I saw a small program which was Reisferfs programs (i think). I didn't know how to install it so that it worked, given that I was using a LiveCD.
When I do get it working, I guess I just "resize" the partition. Is that correct?
Hmmm... I don't know, Hamish. QTParted is a kind of a clone of partition magic, but it doesn't have all features pm has.
QTParted will give you creating partition options if you select the free space in your disc. Resizing... i'm not sure, to be honest. I guess even the suse install cd won't resize a reiserfs partition.
Did you try with the reiserfstools?
