Removing GRUB

hey guys, i need some help with this, im not sure what to do. I'm pretty much a n00b to linux but not too bad, and my problem is:

- My PC has 2 hard drives in, the first on Win ME (lol), and then i added the second and installed Ubuntu. Now when i boot, GRUB comes up and asks me which one i want to boot. But, if i take either one out, the computer will not boot. I now want to use these drives in seperate computers, is there any way of removing grub and keeping my installs and data intact, or is reformatting the only way.

Thanks a lot, Dan Cullen

no matter what u do with your bootloader ur data wil remain intact

only u won't be able to boot it for which u need to make changes accordingly

to make grub independent ,install grub on the drive which has linux and re-instal the windows bootloader on the windows drive

so when u boot from the windows hdd u will have windows by default and when u boot from the linux Hdd u willl have the ubuntu running

regards

To kill Grub just pop in a DOS bootable floppy and type

fdisk /mbr

Any XP, Win2k installation can also do it by booting it up, go to recovery console and type

fixmbr

One overwrites a boot loader with another. No big deal.
