Removing Google

A "friend" decided that I needed Goolge on my PC. I use the new 20.4 ubuntu operating system. I have tried to remove Google but when I try to open my Gmil page Google comes up and asks for me to log in. If I log in I am told that this account has been removed.

I have rebooted the computer but it does not help me, I opened the "Removed" account and re-installed it then removed it again. No better off.

I cannot send nor receive mail at all.

He thought he was doing me a favour.

Gmail is Google. Can you login to the Gmail web page? If not, you should be able to reset the password from there.

How did you "put Google" on the computer in the first place?

What you describe here doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps you can restate it.

I've never dealt with a cancelled Google account, so I cannot say how it will respond if you try to log in to that type of account.

Then you go on to say that you "opened the removed account", implying that you corrected things, and follow that with "and re-installed it then removed it again", well that sounds as if you got it working and then messed with it by way of intentionally removing it, and you state that you're back to the original problem. This is sort of end-upwards, twice over, a.k.a. a very confusing description to follow, and it sounds like you're working against yourself in some manner. Not intentionally, but due to open-ended "try anything" actions on your part.

One possible thing to do is to ask your friend to help fix what they did, but to remind them that this is your system, not theirs and you should be clear about what you want and how you want it. If they are stubborn, then I'd say do not seek any further advice and also take away the lesson that you should not let your friend modify your computer in the future. If instead it goes well and they listen to you, then don't let them off the hook, ask them for descriptions about things and instead be in the driver's seat yourself. Meaning, "you" make the changes to your computer, with them guiding you. But don't just click blindly, ask the implications of things, or if/when things come up where you have some bunch of stuff to read, then read it versus just click ahead. These are things you should practice anyways. While it's good to say (possibly) that you are not interested in becoming an expert, this is still the same sort of situation where if you wish to play in this playground, you really should learn some stuff, otherwise you may find that you'll get left out and/or stopped repeatedly, and not understand what happened. Thus spending some large amount of time not being able to conduct the activities you really wanted to do in the first place.

If you want to use gmail, let us make clear that you are using GOOGLE MAIL (GMAIL). If you are using CHROME (browser) you are using GOOGLE CHROME (which is different than the chromium browser - the open source version of chrome). It is entirely unclear what "google" your friend installed. It is, if anything, less clear what you did about it.

Can you provide more detail about EXACTLY what was installed and EXACTLY what you did about it? Without details, we are shooting at fish, in the dark, blindfolded!
