Rekonq will not load any web pages.

My icon shows that I am connected with my ATT Wifi at my desktop. No matter what I enter it says it cannot load it. My wifi connection does ask me for a password every few minutes. I am using Kubuntu because that is the latest I had a disc available to load in Laptop. I am trying to download Firefox which I am familier with. Thank yyou for any help and thanks to the members that helped me get the Wifi working yesterday.

Have you checked to see if another browser is installed. From the KMenu, go to Applications then to Internet and check options. This is a few versions back so I'm not sure if they have changed the menu.

You should be able to install with the Package Manager. From KMenu, click on the Applications tab, mouse up to System and click on Package Manager and look for firefox under Internet.

"My wifi connection does ask me for a password every few minutes" I'd start there. It shouldn't do that.

Commands like ip or ifconfig, dig, nslookup, (route?) are ones to consider after that.

What distro do you have?

I have Ubuntu/Kubuntu 12.10. I am now installing 14.04. It kept saying there is an upgrade but would not let me do it. I downloaded and burned the .iso and am installing it now. The password problem was my fault and I have it corrected. Hopefully with the new install I can get Firefox and get away from the browser that Rekonq.
The origanal problem is a Grandson gave me a used widescreen HP Laptop and I am trying to set it up with Linux. It has windows Vista and I had a disc of 12.10 and installed it. Thanks for the help.

Be sure to watch out for the IPv6 deal. Sometimes you have to disable it in a few places.

Since you are playing, consider some others at distrowatch.com .
