Redhat certification -- centOS could be the choice ?
The question is been asked before may be more than once on this forum but the date was around feb 2004 !
so I m preparing for RHCT/RHCE (on my own), and frankly speaking i m clueless ... I was a formal ubuntu user(1.5yr) and a Arch user for three or four months for now.. and never tried redhat (ironic that i m preparing for redhat ! they should put some ubuntu or arch certification on the line lol ) anyway, i googled it and found that fedora and centOS are based on redhat so would it be a good idea to install them ?
and can anyone suggest me a preparation guide .. i have one actually by Asghar Ghori based on Red hat 5 for RH(CT)/CE. any better one or should i stick with this one. Thank you.
Yes, you can use CentOS to prepare yourself.
Additionally you can download an evaluation version of RHEL (it'll be fully functional for one month - after that the updates won't be accessible)
Yes, CentOS is your OS. CentOS is RHEL's clone. You can practice for your RHCSA and RHCE exam on that. Yes, RHCSA. RHCT is no longer there and they have changed it to RHCSA which I think is better than RHCT.
Make sure (if you are purchasing) that you purchase 6th edition as 5th edition is on RHEL 5 which is no longer there. RHCSA and RHCE exams are now on RHEL 6
I hope this helps.
