Redetecting Hardware Modem

How do I make kudzu (in Red Hat Linux v.9) re-detect my external U.S. Robotic modem after I disconnected it, rebooted my computer, and chose keep-config option from the kudzu's menu? The link /dev/modem disappeared when I reconnected my modem and restarted my computer. Thanks in advance.

If it kept the configuration it shouldn't have disappeared. Make sure you plugged it into the same com port you used last time. A better indication would be doing this:

ls -l /dev/ppp0

...for which you will probably get a symlink to /dev/ttys0(com1) or /dev/ttys1(com2).

Hope that helps.
