problem with Avast anti/v 'An error occurred in avast! engine: Invalid argument'

Hello

I loaded Avast anti virus into Ubuntu 10.10 this morning. It seemed to go okay and uploaded the updates. But then it stopped.
Now when I try to start it I get the following error message.
'An error occurred in avast! engine: Invalid argument'

Any ideas?
