Angry problem typing in applications

Hello Everyone
I installed compiz, hated it, uninstalled it, rebooted and now I can't type in kate or konsole , or pop up configuration boxes such as opening an unmounted drive. Also I can't move around the desktop any app I load. I'm running Kubuntu 8.04. If anyone can advise please help.

Thank you

Did you disable the 3d desktop mode before uninstalling? If not the easiest thing to do is to re-install compiz and simply disable 3d desktop. There's really no need to uninstall it unless you're seriously pushed for storage space.
