problem sharing internet connection thru crossover network


hi ! i am a newbie with linux. i have two computer both running linux and windows. only one of them has a cable internet connection on eth0 and is linked to the other thru crossover on eth1. when i boot on xp on this computer the other has no problem connecting to the internet either using win or linux.
when i boot linu the networ works perfectly but i can't seem to make the other computer connect to the internet. as i said i am a newbie but i hope i explained the problem clear enough. any suggestions ?

Here is a link to the IP-Masquerade-Howto. It gives very good details on how to do what you
are trying to do.

The first thing you need to make sure is that you can ping between both machines. Once you can do that, setting up the IP-Masquerading is pretty straight forward. (It has been a while since I have read the HowTO, but if I remember right it doesn't go into much detail about setting up the ethernet cards (that might have changed). This should help with that.

Hope I have been helpful. I'm not trying to tell you to RTFM, but these howto's were written by people far better that I at setting up this stuff.

forrestt thanx man for all your support ... i followed your advice and it worked, now i managed to instal Soulseek(nicotin) and i think slowly slowly i will use only Fedora ...
