I am a brand new user of Linux having installed red hat 9 two days ago. I attempted to install an HP deskkjet printer model 3420. I could not get it to work. I asked a friend to help who runs a business using red hat to help. He could not get the printer to work either. Tonight, I borrowed an older deskjet to see whether the trouble was a new printer model. The computer immediately recognized the deskjet 712C printer and installation appeared to be no problem. When I test it however, it prints but so light that I can hardly read it and there is no color.
This printer has not been in use for a while so I cleaned the bottom with no change. Can anybody help?

I am having the same issue. does anyone know how to change this? if it isn't changeable let us know too. thanks.
