Printer not printing with WiFi interface Mint 18.3

Basically the printer prints from 2 other windows devices via WiFi.

PC A, is Linux Mint static IP 10.1.1.2 can ping Printer static IP 10.1.1.6 & access web UI with a WiFi connection.

PC A, can print and scan with CABLE connection.

Try to print from PC A, via WiFi and its stating that printer is not connected or Not switched on.

Modem is a NetCommWireless N600 IP 10.1.1.1 with 2 x Windows PCs in WLAN with static address.

Am not young and new to this but trying to get some understanding, if some one might be able to help please.

Devices physical location PC, Printer & Modem are within 3 meters with clear line of sight

OS Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit,

Cinnamon Version 3.6.7,

Canon Pixma MG2965

Thanks George

Thank you AM, maybe were problem lies as I was not aware of and unable to find how to.

Hope not to be wasting peoples time, realising cheap printer may not be supported and should upgrade.

Appreciate George

Install as Wireless Printer

I deleted printer from Printer application and installed following FBs link and the result is same as before, prints from

A: PC windows 7
B: PC windows 8 (both WiFi connected.)

C: PC Linux Mint prints from CABLE connection.

Disconnect cable WONT print The same PC C is WiFi to modem as is printer.

Installing as Wireless Printer would/could be the answer ?

Researched and cant find anything referring to this it may be choosing from printers in the attached image.

Thank you George

Well, for one thing, I wouldn't try to connect it by USB and wireless at the same time, and then hope when you disconnect the USB the wireless will start working. You also probably need to add the printer as a network printer to use wireless.

GGw666,

The general procedure for setting up a wifi connection is to note the printer's wifi MAC address and then set up a static IP address for the printer at the top end of the router's DHCP range (see LAN IP Setup in router settings).

Post #10 on this link refers to the HP 8620 printer, but the procedure is basically the same:

If you can ping the printer and access its web configuration pages when the PC is using WiFi then I would expect you should also be able to print. If you are using the printers IP address in the cups URL it should not matter how the PC is connected to the LAN.

If you click on "find network printer" in the add printer wizard does it find the printer?

NatalieLawrence9,

Welcome to LQ forums.

You really need to start a new thread as opposed to adding a comment to an old one started by somebody else.

Having said that, I would always recommend having a printer with a cable in addition to wifi.
