Printer error

I want to use a windows network printer for printing. I configured it on my linux OS. But soon I found that I am going through a
lot of errors.
At startup I am getting an error message " getlocalhost'IP address not available!' "
At shutdown I am getting lpd shutdown failed.
How should I get through it. Please help!
