Power Management

I'm running Mandrake 10.1 and I'm trying to get a suspend mode to activate after my linux box has been running idle for too long. I'm looking to spin down the disks, get the energy consumption down. Maybe returning back to normal after a Wake On Lan or something.

I'm a newbie to Linux so, be gentle.

First of all check the BIOS if ACPI is enabled. Secondly if acpi package installed. Third if both are checked positively then use gui wizard through Control Centre in KDE and go to power management
