Question parallel download

Hi,
When trying to install more than one process, I have this error:
Quote:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
Can I perform parallel downloading on Ubuntu 10.10?

linux bignner.
Thank you!

Hi,

Am I correct in concluding that you want to run multiple package managers at once? If so: Nope, you cannot.

Hope this helps.

I meant installing some -softwares or packages- @ the same time.

Hi,

Installing packages/software is done, in general, using a package manager (like: dpkg, apt, aptitude, etc). Only one of those can run at the time.

Hope this helps.

You can install or upgrade multiple packages via the package manager like in Ubuntu there's Synaptic Package Manager, you can select all the packages you need to install or upgrade, then apply the changes.

but if you are asking of installing or upgrading two or more packages at same time then it's not possible.
