Unhappy opening pendrive in RHEL 4.0


hi all,
i can detect my 512 mb usb pen drive in RHEL 4.0. but can't find or open it . pls give your suggestions on doing it

are you using the GUI? if so it will auto mount for you and you just need to double click to get to it, if not do a df -h and see what all is mounted. that should give you the path to your pen drive and be good to go from there. i hope.

sir,
there is no icon on desktop and in df -h there is no indication of pendrive

When you plug it in, dmesg should tell you what device it's "attached" to. You can then mount it with something like (this is what I use for mine)

# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda.

HTH. You'd then be able to access the files on it by going to /mnt/sda. Obviously, you can mount where you like, just make sure that the directory you want to mount to exists beforehand!

i got the following message-

-- now tell me what should i do as i tried the line-
# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda.

Was that the entire message? What happened when you tried to mount it?

sir,
this is the only message which i got in console and when i tried to mount it says no medium found.
