only root users can access vnc server

I can only access the linux vnc server as root. if I log in as david
and run vncserver :1 or vncserver :2 I see this:

xauth: timeout in locking authority file /root/.Xauthority
xauth: timeout in locking authority file /root/.Xauthority

New'X' desktop is Redhat:1

No matter what i do i can only access it as root .
Any Ideas? Whats the proper procusere for adding users? I saw something about changing permision on a file in the /tmp/vnc directory but no help.

adding users can be done with the /usr/bin/redhat-config-users GUI tool or with

useradd david
passwd david
