One-minute ldconfig!?

Hello,

I got Slack 10.1 and ldconfig takes over a minute.. I'm 100% sure this isn't the way it's supposed to be.. Is there any way to speed this up? How would I go about disabling it at boot? What are would the consequences be?

Regards,
xoi

The ldconfig program updates the linker cache will the location of all the system libraries. It does take awhile to run (your experience is normnal. If this bothers you, I'd suggest you read this thread for a way to have it run in the background shortly after boot.
