Not sure what you mean. Hook a standard ethernet cable between the network ports of the two machines, assign each machine a static IP on the same subnet, and then you can ssh/scp/nfs between them like normal.
You can only use a standard cable if one of the systems has a ethernet card capable of automatic MDI/MDI-X, if neither of them support that, you need a crossover cable.
