numpad problems, weird bindings

Hello all,

Here's the all important details:
Fedora 5 x86_64
Gnome 2.14
XGL with compiz
vanilla kernel 2.6.17.11

I've got a problem with my keypad on the right of my keyboard. I'm using a Microsoft Wireless Natural 1.0 (What I was thinking when I bought it I don't know). Anyways I've gotten a few of the special keys to work because the keys were easily bound (or bind-ed) using gnome keyboard shortcuts. But when i press pretty much any key on the right numpad I get stuff like "o2hqf}89" or "xp..........................................................................."

Really quite annoying. I compiled a vanilla kernel a month or so ago, don't remember whether or not they were working before that on the fedora kernel, but I had a look in the xconfig for the 2.6.17.11 kernel and didn't see anything obvious that would foul up the keyboard. I switched to KDE and had the same problem. Same problem in runlevel 3, though with keypress 1 i get zxdb or something similar. Any help on this would alleviate a huge pain in my scrotum.

thx

Not sure if this helps but:
Code:
showkey -a
Any character you type will show output in the same form as in bind -P.
Type <Ctrl>+d to terminate showkey.
