Hi All,
I'm considering moving to a Linux environment, away from MAC (disillusioned with latest versions) and so am testing various Distros to see which I like the most. First, with ones that have an interface most like a MAC, starting with Ubuntu Budgie and Deepin. Both within a Fusion VM.
Installed both with no problem so wanted to use my personal preference of a browser - EPIC.
Had to use Chrome of course, but in both versions failed to get any file downloaded anywhere. Scratched my head and thought OK, lets try something else. No problems trying to load anything else, all went into 'Downloads.

Anyone had the same problem?
There are some things I think you should consider. First, ANY Linux distro can look like a Mac, complete with the lower doc that zooms on icons, etc. Just change the widgets/decorations, and install an app. You don't have to use the distros you mentioned.
As far as the 'Epic' browser goes, did you read their website? It's only for Windows and Mac...it will not run on Linux, at all. You can, though, set up VPN's and use browsers via that, and you can also download the TOR browser easily enough as well. You can download via the links (*NOT* automatically, as their web page tries to do), but it won't do you any good....Epic won't run on Linux.

Has anybody tested the EPIC browser (Windows version) in Linux via WINE?

If you're in the early stages of trying Linux you should probably look at the Linux is not Windows page even though Mac isn't windows either, it may prepare you for some of the frustrations that often accompany change.

Just in case you are using Epic for privacy concerns, I would switch it to another browser right now. If you don't want to go out of the Chromium ecosystem I would recommend you to use either Iridium or Brave, if you can go a step further switch to Firefox. The level of customization and settings you can get on this browser is awesome and you will feel how empty every other web browser is in comparison.
Also, the project is pretty much dead so that brings a whole of other security issues, you should always look for a browser which is regularly updated, even Chrome with all their bloatware is safer than Epic.
If you are using it because of their free VPN, you can use ProtonVPN's free tier, RiseUp VPN (which is totally free, but you can't select the country, it has limited countries and it's quite slow) and I think TunnelBear also has a free tier which is pretty shitty too and they are not the best provider, but that's what you get for free.
