Question non-contiguous


My machine give me a percentage after fsck, like 38.0%non-contiguous. Hoe can I repair this percentage near to 0%. I used
fsck -f -r /dev/hda5

command to fix non-contiguous percentage but after try to fix it nothing change. Please help me.

This notification informs you of the current status of fragmentation on a partition. No action is required to fix this.
However, non-contiguous is not necessarily a valid measure of fragmentation, especially if you have a lot of bad blocks.

You can defrag with e2defrag, if you have it installed. If not, it may be on your distribution CD or you can always download the tarball.


Note
Read the documentation carefully
DO NOT run defrag on a mounted filesystem.
