After having no luck with getting wireless to work properly with Ubuntu 8.04, I was really having high hopes for 8.10, now that I've downloaded though, I don't have any wireless whatsoever! I have an Acer 5520 with a broadcom bcm4311 wirless card, and no matter which driver I enable in "hardware drivers", I can't seem to get wireless working, so please, can anybody help me?

You need to download the driver and use ndiswrapper, that's how I got my Acer wireless to work. If you need any assistance in how to do it post the request in this thread.

Thanks for the reply! If you could please let me know how to do it, I'd be very thankful! I'm not familiar with ndiswrapper as all I had to do with Hardy and Gutsy was to use the b43-fwcutter with the proper firmware.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to write out my instructions. There are some here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25683 Just substitute your card (and driver) in place of the example used.

No worries, I'll manage it.
On second thoughts though, I'm not really sure I want to be using Ndiswrapper just yet, I've read about other people's success stories about getting the b43 drivers to work by doing a little tweaking. So I'm gonna try out that before going down the path of ndiswrapper. Thanks a lot for your help this far though!
