No interface Showing (Looking for wlan0) Backtrack5
Hi, So im using back track 5 GNOME-32
and when i type in airmon-ng there is no interface.
i don,t know how to get it working and ive been looking
for weeks on the internet and there is no forums with enough active people to answer/help me.
Is the WiFi named wlan0 or something else maybe? Are you using a supported chipset? Are you running BT in a VM and do you have a USB wireless card passed through?
That means there is no Wireless interface detected at all (unless it's named eth0, some distributions name it eth instead of wlan). What is the configuration of the machine you are running BackTrack on? Was the wireless interface installed or connected to the machine when you installed BackTrack? What kind of wireless adapter are you using (Brand and model number, as well as interface to the computer)?
im kinda new in all of this so i wish you dont take my question as a joke :S
So how do i check the configuration of my machine?
My wireless adapter is named : NW330 Netcore
Im using Backtrack on a VM (Oracle Virtual Box)
The output of lspci is a long description you want me to write it all?
(Host Bridge: Intel Corporation)
(ISA Bridge: Intel Corporation)
(IDE interface: Intel Corporation
(VGA compatible controller: InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH)
There is a bunch of numbers after these lines ...
I don't know about Oracle VB, but I would think it will NOT provide a virtual wireless device but a virtual ethernet device, which is then routed via whatever connection you have on the host.
You will not be able to use airmon in a VM.
Thank you spiky for a clear answer of why it is not working.
Now that i know the problem how could i fix this?
Do i need to use it on a USB device with backtrack on it?
