Is the WiFi named wlan0 or something else maybe? Are you using a supported chipset? Are you running BT in a VM and do you have a USB wireless card passed through?

Do you see it by just running ifconfig? Can you list what interfaces ifconfig reports on the command line?

That means there is no Wireless interface detected at all (unless it's named eth0, some distributions name it eth instead of wlan). What is the configuration of the machine you are running BackTrack on? Was the wireless interface installed or connected to the machine when you installed BackTrack? What kind of wireless adapter are you using (Brand and model number, as well as interface to the computer)?

I don't know about Oracle VB, but I would think it will NOT provide a virtual wireless device but a virtual ethernet device, which is then routed via whatever connection you have on the host.
You will not be able to use airmon in a VM.

Thank you spiky for a clear answer of why it is not working.
Now that i know the problem how could i fix this?
Do i need to use it on a USB device with backtrack on it?

I would run Backtrack from live cd 1st see if it recognises your device. I,m not sure if it will support packet injection.

Why do you want to run Backtrack as your distro ???
