Question newbie with SlackWare 12.0 cant mount HDD or cd

Hey all,

This is the error message i get when trying to mount either my hard drive or my cd drive

"a security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface"org.freedesktop.hal.device.Volume" member "mount error name"(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.hal")"

that is greek to me, i was expecting to right click the drive click mount and be done. this is a fresh install and a dual boot running 98 on a small partition (using LiLo if it matters)i have a feeling there is an easy fix but i have been warned against mucking around in root before i know what i am doing.

any ideas?

See the sticky thread in the Slackware forum: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d-this-566862/. You really should have searched first.
