newbie with grip problem

Hello Linux World, newbie here trying to learn linux. I have an compaq laptop running suse 10.1 and grip is acting up. I started ripping cds and after about 10 regular music cds ripper seems to be loading up, it will finally slow down to a stop. encoder works fine, anyone got any ideas? Please forgive my ignorance, I am trying really hard to make linux work for me.

Are you trying with the same CD each time? Do you have error correction enabled? It could be that the CD is scratched, and grip is slowing down to try to read it correctly.

Thats probably it rj, I wasnt sure about the error corr. I will turn it off and try again. And no, I tried 2 cds, but they were old so thats probably it. Thanks a bunch.
