Newbie Mouse Problem

Hi,

I've only just started using Linux and I'm using a Logitech MX700 mouse.

The problem I have is that I only have the use of one arm and used my mouse in Windows to do loads of different commands within certain programs such as Maya and MatchMover. I have 7 buttons on the mouse and in Windows I programmed the two thumb buttons to be Alt and Ctrl respectively and a button next to the wheel was my Shift. I've now gone over to Linux Fedora Core and those commands have stopped working so I'm unable to use those programs effectively.

Would someone be able to post a very very simple explanation (and I mean teaching me to suck eggs simple!) of how I can get those buttons doing what I want them to do within Linux.

You'll be a life saver if you do as all my work has to be done from the mouse due to my disability.

Thanks in advance

Marc

Easy, I did this myself with my mouse the other day. However I don't have access to my linux computer at the moment

Google for xmodmap and xbindkeys. I used xbindkeys because I couldn't get xmodmap to work but either of those apps can do what you want I think
