New monitor causing problems

I have a dual system - Windows XP and FC3. Both were working fine until I recently installed my first flat screen monitor. Windows still works fine, but when I try to boot into FC3, there is this box in the middle of the screen that won't go away no matter what I try. It says: "Not optimum mode - Recommended mode 1440 x 900 60 Hz." Assuming that means screen res, I tried to change it, the system froze. Back into Windows, I changed the resolution to 1440 x 900 and rebooted to FC3. Same thing. I miss Linux. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to adjust your screen resolutions in FC3.

In gnome you can do Applications -> System Settings -> Display, then Hardware tab, and "Configure" button to adjust your resolution.

In KDE you can do you can go to settings -> peripherals -> Display to make adjustments.
