new build centos 5.5 squid proxy start error

dear sir i build new os centos 5.5 where install new proxy via "yum install squid". and configure squid.conf simple spec, the service does not start

# service squid start
init_cache_dir /var/spool/squid/... /etc/init.d/squid: line 62: 3025 Aborted $SQUID -z -F -D >> /var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1
Starting squid: /etc/init.d/squid: line 42: 3026 Aborted $SQUID $SQUID_OPTS >> /var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1
[FAILED]

which files and permission to check i have done all task via root user

Check the logs and paste the output. You should get an idea about the errors from the log files. squid.out is the one you should start with.

Check permissions on /var/log/squid/squid.out file and /var/log/squid/ directory. It seems like system failed attempts to write in it.
